Child at Heart, Chapter 1. HanHae
Title: Child at Heart Chapter one
Rating: PG-13 for language
Length: 1442 words
Pairing: HanHae
Summary: Han Geng thinks that Donghae would make a good little brother, and denies that his affections could lay in any other direction. Unfortunately for him, he may just find that you should be careful what you ask for, Some wishes have a nasty habit of coming true.
Han Geng yawns and pulls his jacket around him tightly, shivering in the frigid air. Snow crunches under his boots, and he can see wisps of white fog with every exhale. It is far too cold to be outside. How ever, that hadn’t stopped Donghae from dragging him out of bed, on a rare day that the two of them had no schedules.
Han Geng had planned to curl up with a blanket and maybe a nice cup of tea, and try to finally finish that book he’d started back when he’d actually thought he’d have the free time. He snorts in amusement. Two years, and he still wasn’t done. Every time he picks the damn thing up he gets dragged into something that he generally wished hadn’t happened.
He shivers and prays today wasn’t going to be another one of those. The next time Heechul says he’s planning a party, he‘s locking himself in his room and not leaving for a week. He’s not entirely sure how he woke up the next morning, wearing nothing but a pair of women’s underwear. The SNSD girls still won’t look him in the eye after that, and Kangin and Heechul both smirk when they catch sight of it.
Han Geng is not sure if he’s just better off not knowing.
But hopefully today was going to be better than that. After all it’s Donghae. Donghae wouldn’t try and go out of his way to make Han Geng’s life miserable.
Wait.
Where was Donghae?
Han Geng stops in the middle of the sidewalk, and stretches as high as he can, craning his neck to see all around him.
A flash of bright red scarf disappears around the corner and Han Geng sighs before starting to make his way after the man. Honestly, what the point in getting him out of bed, if all Donghae was going to do was leave him behind?
He doesn’t make it far before he hears excited whispering and girly giggles. He looks over, and sees a group of girls pointing at him excitedly. He plasters a smile on his face and nods to them, hoping that they’ll let him on his way, but no such luck. One of the girls, short and wearing a pink sweater, gets pushed forward by her giggling friends, and comes up to him.
Han Geng mentally counts down from ten, but smiles at her.
She blushes and glances nervously back at her friends, but speaks up. “Hankyung oppa?”
Han Geng answers “Yes?”
The girls all break out once again into excited chatter. The Pink Sweater speaks up again after a moment. “Umm… Would you please take a picture with us oppa?”
Han Geng isn’t so mean as to turn down a fan like that, even if he really wants to know where Donghae has gone. Because that boy gets into more than enough trouble when people have their eye on him, and who knows what he’s up to now. But he nods his assent anyway, and they find a random passerby to take the photo.
After a little jostling for position, the photo is done and the girls are thanking him again and again, A chorus or "Oppas" and "Thank yous" floating through the air. Han Geng gives them one last smile before turning back to where he had seen Donghae.
Nothing.
Who knows where he was now, he hadn’t come back yet, and Han Geng doesn’t want to admit, but he’s just a little bit worried, because Donghae usually realized he had left people behind by now, and it usually takes even less time for him to remember Han Geng than anyone else. Most occasions he feels ridiculously pleased by that little fact, but now it only makes him more nervous, because where was Donghae?
He trots down the street, eyes glancing from side, peering into shops, catching sight of bright red shirts, bags, hats, but not Donghae’s scarf, until he turns another corner.
There he is. Talking to some old lady, and perfectly fine and smiling, and Han Geng had just been forgotten, and no he was not pouting, he was scowling because Donghae had disappeared like that without telling him.
Donghae turns to him and gives a brilliant smiles, and waves. “Hyung!” he turns back to the old lady, and bows, shoving something into his pocket that Han Geng just can’t quite see, before bounding over with a final, “Bye grandma!”
Han Geng tries to look angry, but with Donghae nearly bouncing up and down and looking so incredibly pleased to see him, Han Geng’s lips twitch up into a smile. Damn it, the traitors.
Finally giving in Han Geng sighs and smiles fondly, before ruffling Donghae’s hair. Donghae yelps indignantly, and quickly tries to brush his hair back to where it was. “Hyuuuuuung.” he whines, and Han Geng smirks at him and chuckles a bit. Donghae wrinkles up his nose, pouts, and finally smiles again, smalls giggles escaping his mouth.
Han Geng’s breathe catches. Donghae’s hair is tousled, cheeks rosy with cold and laughter, and the smile that makes Han Geng’s stomach flutter irrationally every time he sees it is peaking over the top of the crimson scarf.
Right at that moment a snowflake falls and lands right on Donghae’s nose, cause the younger man to blink and go cross-eyed in an attempt to see it.
It has to be the cutest thing Han Geng has ever seen, and he wants to-- no. He doesn’t, because Donghae is like his baby brother, and fuck, those fan girls and their ideas are really able to corrupt your mind, because when you play up those fantasies of theirs all the time on stage with the endless skinship it’s bound to sink in sometime, right?
Obviously, because its not like in anyone in super junior is really gay (except maybe Heechul, but everyone knows that). So no. its impossible.
Donghae refocuses his eyes, and turns to Han Geng. “Hyung?”
It has to be getting to his head, all this skinship, and the fan girls with their fan fiction.
“Hyuuuuung.”
And no, he doesn’t read fan fiction, but there was that one time he stumbled cross this one site, and it’s not like he really read them per se, but there was one…
“Han Geng hyung.”
And he was surprised because he hadn’t really thought that he and Donghae had done a whole lot of skinship so he was curious. And he clicked it. And then there were more, and he was still curious. And now his mind has been corrupted.
“Geng Gege!”
And that has to be the reason..
“Gege!”
That he wants to kiss Donghae.
“HAN GENG!”
Han Geng blinks.
“Yes, Hae?”
Donghae removes his hand from where he had been waving it in Geng’s face, stands tip toe and leans in real close to peer at him.
Far too close.
“Are you okay? You don’t normally space out like that, but I’ve been calling your name for forever.”
Han Geng flushes slightly. “I was just thinking.”
Donghae’s eyes widen and he nods. “Oooohhh. About what?”
Han Geng grins at him, and steps back “Its nothing important.” Now would be a good time to change the subject “ So why’d you run off like that?”
Donghae perks up and the two of them start walking down the sidewalk. “Oh! I saw this dog, and it was so cute, and then I saw that grandma, and she was selling these cool things! She had this necklace that was supposed to be for bringing love, and the little doll that’s good luck and all sorts of stuff. And see! I bought this!”
Donghae fishes around in his pocket and pulls out a small stone, flat smooth, consisting of whirling blues and greens.
“Isn’t it cool!”
Han Geng smiles and nods, it was pretty, for a rock anyway. “And what does it do?”
Donghae nearly skips with excitement and brushes into Han Geng’s shoulder, causing the older man’s step to falter for moment. “She said it could grant your deepest wish. The one that you really really want, even if you don’t know it your self.”
Han Geng raises his eyebrows. “Is that so? How much did you pay for this wishing stone?” Honestly even old women these days, cheating people out of their money.
“Only 100 won.”
Or not.
“She said I was special, and it would come in handy, so she gave it to me for really cheap. I like it! Don’t you?”
Geng smiles. “It’s very pretty Hae.”
Donghae holds it out and grins “It is, isn’t it?”
“Ah! Donghae! Watch where you’re going!”
“Oh- Sorry hyung!”
So here's the first chapter in My new HanHae fic ^^ I've got the next 8 chapters or so already written so I'll be posting them periodically. hopefully this head start will allow me to keep ahead of the game and avoid any long delays haha~
Normally my Donghae is not quite this hyper or childish, but he was quite excited to have Han Geng all to himself, and wrote himself that way >.< who woulda thought?
Lol keep checking back, I should up date this fic next week for sure~

I like Cute!Hae, even though I really think he's a lot more mature and complex than most people think, and i usually try and convay ni fics, but he was just to damn happy to have a day off to spend with Han Geng XD.
It's obvious they know about fanfiction and shipping in real life, they've mentioned it in interviews and play it up, it's gotta affect them in some way right? So Hannie read HanHae fic XD.
Ah hope it's keeps your interest all teh way to the end ^^
Thanks for reading, Saranghae <3

but hehe hae is absolutely adorable here, all hyper and bubbly and even geng can't be angry at him. although our darling gege really should stop reading those fanfics if he wants to see hae as just a little brother. although we all know that's not what he REALLY wants ;P
can't wait to see more~

Yes, I miss them TT.TT HanHae!
I think everyone BUT Geng realizes that XD.
oh, so off topic, but I was skimming through my memories a while ago and realized my very very first HanHae fic was actually your Imaginary Friend, which sent me on a frantic search for more, and thus i found Miracleshining's stuff which cemented my love for HanHae.
I'm not sure if this warrants thanks or not, since my mind has been totally and utterly corrupted now, but there you have it, I blame you for this obsession with a pairing that hardly anyone writes TT.TT I coulda been a Eunhae fan or something, and actually HAD lotsa fanifcs to read. instead I'm a HanHae addict TT.TT
...saranghae? <3

hehe miracleshining got me into hanhae with impasse so you can blame her haha XP nahh i'll take full responsibility if you want kekeke
